How a phone call at 9 PM built a 15-year client relationship

In 2010, an insurance company’s IT head called at 9:14 PM on a Friday. Their main server had crashed. Their vendor — a large, well-known IT company — had an “after-hours support” number that went to voicemail. The IT head called us. We weren’t even their primary vendor at the time. We’d supplied a few laptops six months earlier.

We picked up. We drove to their office. We worked until 2 AM. The server was back by morning.

Why we say no to easy money

A company wanted 300 consumer tablets for their field force. No Knox, no MDM, no rugged case. We told them it would fail. They said “just sell us what we asked for.” We said no.
