Dropbox Sign eSignature vs DocuSign, Adobe, Zoho
All four are honest choices. Most Indian buyers land on the first option for service depth and ecosystem fit.
| Brand | Where it wins | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Dropbox Sign | The fastest route from decision to a working eSignature flow. Clean sender experience, honest per-user pricing, templates and audit trail on every plan, and the developer API is one of the best documented in the category. Best when you want signing live this week, not a six-month CLM project. | Teams that want signing live this week with templates, an audit trail and per-user pricing that stays predictable. |
| DocuSign | The category leader with the deepest enterprise stack: identity verification, CLM, and the brand every legal team already knows. You pay for that depth, envelope limits can sting at volume, and rollout takes longer. Right when compliance demands the incumbent. | Enterprises whose compliance or counterparties demand the incumbent, and who need identity verification or CLM. |
| Adobe Acrobat Sign | The natural pick if your firm already lives in Acrobat and Creative Cloud. Strong PDF tooling and transaction-based enterprise pricing that suits steady, predictable volumes. Admin is heavier than Dropbox Sign. | Firms already paying for Acrobat or Creative Cloud with steady, predictable signing volumes. |
| Zoho Sign | The Indian option: INR billing, local support, and Aadhaar eSign support for workflows that demand it. If your regulator or counterparties require Aadhaar-backed signatures or stamp-duty integrations, start here instead. We will tell you that straight. | Workflows that specifically require Aadhaar eSign, INR billing or stamp-duty integrations through Indian providers. |

Dropbox Sign eSignature India FAQ
Common questions about this brand for Indian buyers. Hover any underlined term for a plain-English definition.
What is Dropbox Sign and is it the same as HelloSign?
Yes. Dropbox Sign is the eSignature product formerly known as HelloSign, founded in 2011 and acquired by Dropbox in 2019. It lets you send documents for legally binding electronic signature from a browser, a mobile app or your own software via its API. Only the name changed in 2022; accounts, templates and the API carried over.
Are Dropbox Sign signatures legally valid in India?
For most business documents, yes. India’s IT Act 2000 recognises electronic signatures and electronic contracts, and Dropbox Sign attaches a time-stamped, tamper-evident audit trail to every request. The exceptions matter though: property sale deeds, wills, powers of attorney, negotiable instruments and anything requiring notarisation or registration still need wet ink. We flag these in every assessment.
What does Dropbox Sign cost for an Indian business?
A free plan covers 3 signature requests a month. Essentials starts at $15 a month billed annually for a single sender with unlimited requests. Standard is $25 per user a month annually with a 2-user minimum, and Premium is custom-priced from 5 users. Note that billing is in USD, so an international card and forex markup are part of the real cost. Roughly, a two-person Standard setup lands near Rs 4,400 a month at current rates.*
Should an Indian SMB pick Dropbox Sign or DocuSign?
If you need signing running this week with templates, an audit trail and fair per-user pricing, Dropbox Sign is the shorter path and we have seen teams go live in a day. If your counterparties or compliance team insist on the category incumbent, or you need identity verification and contract lifecycle management, DocuSign earns its premium. We supply both, so the recommendation follows your documents, not our margin.
Does Dropbox Sign support Aadhaar eSign?
No. Dropbox Sign issues standard electronic signatures with an audit trail, which the IT Act recognises for ordinary commercial contracts. Aadhaar eSign is a separate, government-backed mechanism offered by Indian providers such as Zoho Sign or Leegality. If your workflow or regulator specifically demands Aadhaar-backed signatures, we will point you to one of those instead.
Not sure which plan, or whether eSignature even fits your documents?
Send us the three documents your team signs most. We will tell you what is valid electronically, what is not, and what the licence should cost. No charge for the assessment.
