One Lenovo ThinkPad standard. One Premier Support ticket. One AMC number.
How a 140-person Bandra law firm swapped seven-year-old ThinkPads and the partners did not notice for a week. Story below.
ThinkPad Business laptops at a glance
Why ThinkPad anchors most Indian business laptops estates.
- OEM
- Lenovo Group Limited, world’s largest PC maker by unit share. India entity Lenovo (India) Private Limited, with an owned Puducherry plant running 1.4 million units a year capacity.
- Portfolio
- ThinkPad T, X1 Carbon, P-series and E and L series laptops. ThinkCentre desktops sit alongside for branch counters. Over 200 million ThinkPads sold since the line began.
- Market position
- Number 2 in India’s PC market, roughly 18 to 20 percent share through 2025 per IDC, with the fastest commercial growth of any top OEM in the small office segment.
- Make in India
- Lenovo has said it will manufacture 100 percent of its India PC models locally within three years. Puducherry-built units carry Class 1 PMA compliance, which matters if you sell into government tenders.
- Indicative price
- T14 or T16 general office builds run roughly Rs 65,000 to 95,000. X1 Carbon starts near Rs 1.3 lakh. P-series workstations run Rs 1.8 lakh to 3.5 lakh depending on the GPU. Confirm exact pricing before you sign, every figure here carries the asterisk.
- Sirius Star’s role
- We are a reseller, not Lenovo itself. We image the fleet, run one-number multi-vendor AMC, and will tell you when a Dell or HP unit is the honest fit instead.
- Best fit
- 60 to 600 seat Indian businesses that want one laptop standard across the fleet, and IT heads tired of chasing three different OEM support numbers.

ThinkPad T14 and T16
The safe default for general office roles. i5 or Ryzen 5, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD covers 80 percent of a typical fleet.
- Best keyboard in the category, matters at 6 hours of typing a day
- MIL-STD-810H tested, lower failure rates show up after year three
- 3-year base warranty on T-series, we always add Premier Support
ThinkPad X1 Carbon
Under 1.2 kg with all-day battery. The unit sales teams demo SaaS on and executives actually want to carry.
- Optional 4G LTE for field reliability
- Premier Support next-business-day onsite in 17 Indian cities
- Priced above T-series, justify it on travel frequency not title
ThinkPad P-series
Mobile workstations for CAD, Adobe and ML work. NVIDIA RTX A1000 to A5500 depending on the model.
- HP ZBook wins on NVIDIA driver stability for CAD-heavy shops, we will say so
- Right pick for architects and financial modelling teams
- Priced Rs 1.8 lakh to 3.5 lakh depending on GPU tier
ThinkPad E14 and E16
Cost-conscious tier for deployments capped under Rs 65,000 per laptop. Same keyboard feel, lighter build spec.
- 1-year base warranty, extend it, do not skip this line
- Often a tie with Dell Vostro or HP 240, pick on stock not brand loyalty
- L-series only if the Lenovo logo matters more than the spec sheet
ThinkPad Business laptops vs Dell, HP, Acer
All four are honest choices. Most Indian buyers land on the first option for service depth and ecosystem fit.
| Brand | Where it wins | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Lenovo ThinkPad (via Sirius Star) | The keyboard, MIL-STD-810H durability, and a Premier Support network that holds a next-business-day SLA in 17 Indian cities. | Fleets that want one laptop standard and are tired of managing three OEM support numbers. |
| Dell Latitude | Wins when procurement already has a frame agreement in place, and on Command Suite fleet management depth. | Large enterprises with existing Dell purchasing contracts. |
| HP EliteBook | Wins on display calibration for visual roles, and HP ZBook wins on NVIDIA driver stability for CAD-heavy shops. | Design, marketing and CAD teams where screen accuracy matters more than keyboard feel. |
| Acer TravelMate | Wins on landed cost for deployments under Rs 45,000 per unit where the brand logo is not a factor. | Budget-capped rollouts with no CAD or executive-travel requirement. |

ThinkPad Business laptops India FAQ
Common questions about this brand for Indian buyers. Hover any underlined term for a plain-English definition.
Is Lenovo Premier Support really next-business-day onsite in India?
In 17 metro and tier-1 cities, yes. In tier-2 cities the SLA runs 2 working days. Our AMC wraps an escalation path that brings in Lenovo India directly if that SLA is missed.
Can you bundle ThinkPads with our Microsoft 365 and Bitdefender licensing?
Yes. M365 Business Premium or E3 seats and Bitdefender GravityZone endpoint licenses go on the same purchase order. One invoice, one PO number, one renewal date.
What warranty comes standard, and should we extend it?
1 year on E and L series base, 3 years on T and X1 series base. Extend to 3 to 4 years with Premier Support plus Accidental Damage Protection. Not always necessary on E-series budget units, but on anything carried daily, yes.
Do you offer DaaS instead of buying ThinkPads outright?
Yes. A 36-month per-device subscription covering hardware, Premier Support, imaging, deployment and end-of-term refresh. Useful when you want the fleet off the balance sheet.
How fast can you deliver 50 ThinkPads to a new office?
For a standard T-series config, 10 to 14 working days from PO to pre-imaged delivery. Faster if stock is sitting at our Mumbai facility already.
Is Lenovo’s Chinese ownership a security concern for our procurement?
Some enterprises raise this, usually around older Superfish-era firmware trust issues that Lenovo has since addressed. If your procurement policy has a hard rule against it, we will quote Dell or HP instead and say so plainly rather than argue the point.
