Frequently asked questions about DaaS in India

What is Device-as-a-Service and how is it different from leasing or renting?
DaaS bundles the device, the Microsoft 365 licence, Defender for Business, Intune enrolment, on-site support, and end-of-life refresh into a single monthly OPEX fee. Traditional hardware leasing only finances the device. With Sirius Star DaaS, when a laptop fails we replace it within SLA at no separate charge; when month 36 or 48 arrives the refresh is automatic; when a user offboards we wipe and recover the device. Leasing companies typically do none of this.
What hardware brands are included in DaaS tiers?
Entry tier covers Dell Vostro, Lenovo IdeaPad, HP ProBook entry models. Standard tier covers Dell Latitude, Lenovo ThinkPad L and T series, HP EliteBook, MacBook Air. Premium tier covers Dell Latitude top end, ThinkPad X1 Carbon, HP EliteBook x360, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air M-series. Each tier has Samsung Galaxy Tab Active and iPad options for tablet roles. Custom configurations (CAD workstations, mobile video editing rigs) available on request.
What happens when a device breaks?
User raises a ticket via the support WhatsApp line or email. We dispatch a field engineer within SLA (8 working hours in MMR, next business day Tier-1 cities, 48 hours Tier-2). For repairable issues we fix on-site or swap parts. For non-repairable failures we ship a replacement device pre-configured with the user’s Intune profile, and recover the broken one. All included in the monthly fee.
Can we add or remove devices mid-contract?
Yes. Adding a device is a new line item billed from the next month. Removing a device requires 30-day notice , we recover the device, wipe it, provide DPDP-aligned data destruction records, and stop billing from the following month. There is no penalty for shrinking your fleet during contract term, but the per-device rate may step up at the next renewal if fleet size drops below the tier threshold (e.g. fewer than 50 devices).
How does the Microsoft 365 piece work within DaaS?
The M365 licence is bundled into the monthly DaaS fee. Each device tier carries an appropriate M365 plan: Entry typically pairs with Business Basic or Standard, Standard pairs with Business Premium, Premium pairs with Business Premium or E3 depending on company size. If you already have an M365 contract we can either fold it into DaaS at renewal or keep it separate and bundle hardware-only. See the Microsoft 365 page for licence detail.
Is DaaS more or less expensive than buying outright?
On 36 to 48-month total cost of ownership, DaaS lands at roughly the same total spend as outright purchase plus the equivalent M365, Defender, and support contracts. The advantage is OPEX flow, predictable monthly cost, no capex spikes every 3 years, no surprise replacement spend, and one accountable vendor. For Indian SMBs in growth mode this usually wins on operational and cashflow grounds even when CAPEX cost is technically lower.
Do you support Apple devices on DaaS?
Yes. MacBook Air and MacBook Pro on M-series silicon, iPad and iPad Pro, iPhone for executive and design teams. Apple Authorized Reseller. Intune supports macOS, iPadOS, and iOS for MDM, so the device-management experience is identical to Windows. Pricing on Apple DaaS tiers is roughly 30 to 40 percent higher than equivalent Windows tiers due to hardware cost.
What about data destruction at end-of-life?
At end-of-life or user offboarding, we wipe the device using NIST 800-88 compliant data sanitisation, generate a certificate of destruction, and route the hardware through licensed Indian e-waste recyclers. For DPDP-sensitive data we offer physical destruction of storage media on request with photographic proof. All records are retained for 7 years to support compliance audits.
