Trellix endpoint security in India, scoped to what auditors ask.
How a Chennai NBFC’s SE Labs-winning EDR still missed a laptop that walked out the back door. Story below.
Trellix Endpoint Security at a glance
Why Trellix anchors most Indian endpoint security estates.
- Who makes it
- Musarubra US LLC, trading as Trellix. Formed January 2022 from the merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye, owned by Symphony Technology Group.
- What it covers
- Endpoint protection and EDR, network detection (NDR/IPS), data loss prevention, email security and an XDR correlation layer built on Trellix Wise GenAI, plus an optional managed SOC (MDR).
- India price band
- Roughly ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh a year for a mid-size endpoint plus EDR deployment, priced module by module.*
- Who it fits
- Estates already carrying a mix of ex-McAfee ePO policies and ex-FireEye tooling that want one XDR console instead of two separate vendor relationships.
- Who should look elsewhere
- Smaller estates under roughly 100 endpoints, where module-by-module licensing costs more than the platform depth is worth.
- What we have seen go wrong
- A renewal quote that jumped because EDR, DLP and Email Security were licensed as three separate add-ons nobody had budgeted for together.

Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS)
The base agent: threat prevention, adaptive threat protection and firewall in one client, replacing the old McAfee endpoint agent.
- Single lightweight agent, not three stacked tools
- Behavioural and signature detection together
- Manageable from the same ePO estate as legacy McAfee
Trellix EDR with Forensics
Adds detection and response on top of ENS: timeline reconstruction for what a threat actually touched, not just that it fired.
- Root-cause timeline per incident
- Scored 100% in 2024 MITRE ATT&CK Evaluations for macOS
- Feeds directly into the XDR console
Trellix XDR Platform
Correlates endpoint, network, data and email signals in one view, with Trellix Wise GenAI doing the first pass of triage.
- 68 billion telemetry queries a day across the wider Trellix base
- 3x more third-party integrations than most rival platforms
- 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant recognition for NDR
Trellix MDR
A managed detection and response layer for estates that do not want to staff a 24×7 SOC in-house.
- Sirius Star scopes the escalation path before go-live
- Fits estates already stretched on security headcount
- Sits on top of ENS/EDR, not a replacement for it
Trellix Endpoint Security vs CrowdStrike, Microsoft, Trend
All four are honest choices. Most Indian buyers land on the first option for service depth and ecosystem fit.
| Brand | Where it wins | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Trellix | Broadest single-console platform across endpoint, network, data and email, built from combined McAfee and FireEye detection engineering, with strong independent test scores. | Estates that want one XDR view across a mixed ex-McAfee and ex-FireEye estate instead of stitching two consoles together. |
| CrowdStrike | The lightest cloud-native agent and the fastest time to first deployment. | Cloud-first estates happy to pay a premium for the smallest possible endpoint footprint. |
| Microsoft Defender | Near-free bundling inside Microsoft 365 E5 and deep native Windows telemetry. | Microsoft-first shops already paying for E5 who mainly need Windows coverage. |
| Trend Micro | Strong server and cloud workload protection with more predictable, less fragmented module pricing. | Estates with heavy server and cloud workloads that want one simpler SKU. |

Free 30 minute review first. Then a written quote in 24 working hours.
Estate and module review
Free, 30 min. We count endpoints and servers, and work out which modules, EDR, DLP, Email, you actually need.
Licence scoped to the risk
We scope ENS, EDR and any add-ons to what your regulator actually asks about, not the full Trellix price list.
Pilot rollout
One site or business unit first. The old antivirus stays live underneath until Trellix is proven end to end.
Written quote
A sized quote lands in 24 working hours, module by module, so nothing arrives as a surprise line item later.

Trellix Endpoint Security India FAQ
Common questions about this brand for Indian buyers. Hover any underlined term for a plain-English definition.
Is Trellix the same company as McAfee?
Not anymore. Trellix is what McAfee Enterprise became after Symphony Technology Group bought it in 2021 and merged it with FireEye in January 2022. The consumer McAfee antivirus you may know from personal laptops is a separate company. Trellix is the enterprise security line, and it carries detection engineering from both McAfee and FireEye.
What does Trellix cost for a mid-size Indian business?
Most mid-size deployments land between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh a year, priced per module.* ENS alone costs less than ENS plus EDR plus DLP plus Email Security bundled together. We size this on the free 30 minute review against your actual endpoint and server count. Please contact Sirius Star for a sized quote.
Why did Trellix rename from McAfee Enterprise and FireEye?
Symphony Technology Group bought McAfee’s enterprise business for $4 billion in 2021 and FireEye’s product business for $1.2 billion the same year, after FireEye had already sold off its Mandiant incident-response arm to Google. STG merged the two engineering teams and launched the combined platform as Trellix in January 2022, while spinning the old McAfee cloud security (SSE) business out as a separate sibling company, Skyhigh Security.
Does Trellix XDR replace our SIEM?
Not usually. Trellix XDR correlates Trellix’s own telemetry, endpoint, network, data and email, into one triage view using Trellix Wise GenAI. Most Indian estates keep a separate SIEM for log retention and compliance reporting and feed Trellix alerts into it, rather than replacing it outright. We scope this during the estate review rather than assuming either way.
Is Trellix heavy on endpoint CPU and memory?
This is the most common objection we hear, and it is fair. Trellix’s combined agent can be heavier than a lean cloud-native competitor, especially during a full scan on older hardware. We tune scan scheduling and exclusions during rollout specifically to manage this, and flag it upfront rather than let a helpdesk ticket surprise you in month two.
Do you sell only Trellix, or do you compare it honestly?
We resell Trellix, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender and several other endpoint platforms, so read this page knowing that. Sometimes the honest recommendation is Defender because an estate already pays for Microsoft 365 E5, or CrowdStrike because the estate is small and cloud-native. We have made that call before, and those clients are still clients.
