ASUS ExpertBook now ships from Rs 39,990 with onsite service. For a small team the real question is warranty, not spec sheets. Here is the honest read.
When ASUS still fits

Most SMB owners come to ASUS through price. The ExpertBook P1 lands around Rs 39,990, which is a real number when you are buying eight machines and signing the PO yourself. ASUS grew its India commercial business 170 percent in 2025 and moved 64,000-plus commercial units in a single quarter, so this is no longer a gaming brand pretending to sell to offices. For a firm under Rs 5 lakh of laptop spend a year, the maths is genuinely attractive.
It fits when your team is small enough that one person handles IT, and that person is you or the office manager. ASUS claims onsite service across 14,900-plus PIN codes, which covers most business addresses in a metro or a Tier 2 town. If your staff sit in one or two offices and a machine going down for a day is an inconvenience rather than a shutdown, the ExpertBook range does the job at a price the others struggle to match.
It also fits when you buy the commercial line, not the consumer one. Vivobook and Zenbook are lovely machines, but they are built for individuals, not fleets. The ExpertBook P and B series carry the business warranty, the manageability, and the ports your accountant actually wants. Buy the right series and ASUS behaves like a business vendor. Buy the consumer line for the office and you inherit a consumer support queue.
Where it stops fitting is after-sales. ASUS runs a lot of its India service through third-party centres, and the complaints online are about slow RMAs and customer-induced-damage disputes, not about the hardware. For an SMB owner that risk is not academic. A laptop stuck in a service loop for two weeks is a person who cannot invoice. That is the number to weigh, not the clock speed.

When switching from ASUS pays off, and when it does not
If you are moving to ASUS from a pricier brand purely to save money, do the sum properly before you switch the whole fleet. The saving on eight ExpertBooks against eight ThinkPads is real, often Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 a machine. Against that, put the cost of one bad RMA: a staff member without a laptop for ten working days, a loaner you had to arrange, and the hours you spent on the phone. If your business can absorb that once a year, ASUS wins on price. If it cannot, the cheaper sticker is not the cheaper decision.
The clean way to switch is partial. Put ExpertBooks on the desks of staff who sit in the office and can share a spare for a day.
