Can Honeywell scanners read damaged or dirty barcodes?
Better than most. The FlexRange scan engine on current Xenon and CT-series devices is built for exactly this, faded price tags, crumpled cartons, barcodes printed on curved or reflective surfaces. No scanner reads a barcode that has been physically torn off the box. Everything short of that, the current range handles.
What does a Honeywell scanner fleet really cost beyond the hardware price?
Hardware is the smaller number. Device-management software subscriptions and support or RMA turnaround add 15 to 30 percent to total fleet cost over three years, depending on scale. Ask for the three-year TCO, not the unit price, before you compare quotes.
Do older Honeywell Dolphin or CT40/CT60 devices still get support?
Not always. The Dolphin series and first-generation Mobility Edge devices, CT40 and CT60, have been superseded by the CT45/CT47 generation. Spares availability is thinning. If you are running Dolphin-era hardware, price the replacement now rather than waiting for a failure during a peak dispatch week.
Is a rugged CK-series device overkill for a standard warehouse?
Depends on the drop height and the floor. If devices survive on a desk and only travel between a dock and a picking cart, a CT-series device costs less and does the job. If they get dropped from a forklift mast or work in sub-zero cold storage, the CK65/CK67 pays for itself in the first replaced unit it avoids.
What happens if a Honeywell scanner breaks mid-shift in India?
