Mantra Biometric Identity Devices at a glance

Why Mantra anchors most Indian biometric identity devices estates.

What it is
India’s largest biometric device manufacturer: UIDAI-certified fingerprint and iris scanners for Aadhaar eKYC, AEPS and access control, made in Ahmedabad since 2006.
Who it fits
CSC and AEPS operators, banks, BFSI branches and government offices that need Aadhaar-compliant biometric capture at a low entry price.
The real decision
Not which brand, it is which certification level. Your device must be UIDAI L1. The old L0 fleet was phased out of the Aadhaar ecosystem by mid-2025.
Why it is different
Two of the first UIDAI-whitelisted L1 devices in the Aadhaar ecosystem, with deep entrenchment across Spice Money, PayNearby, Fino and CSC networks nationwide.
What to watch
The annual RD service subscription must be renewed on time, or Aadhaar and AEPS capture stops overnight with no grace period.
Price band
Entry-level L1 fingerprint scanners land under Rs 5,000 landed. Iris scanners, biometric tablets and access-control bundles push the higher end past Rs 40,000, before GST.*
How Sirius Star supports it
We handle the purchase order, UIDAI device registration paperwork, and RD service renewal tracking, so the annual subscription never lapses without warning.

Most bought

Mantra MFS110

The default UIDAI L1 fingerprint scanner for AEPS counters, CSC eKYC and branch onboarding. The direct replacement for the phased-out MFS100. It is the device most Indian CSC and bank branch counters standardise on because RD service drivers and staff training already exist for it across the ecosystem.

Current India models: MFS110 · L1 certified*
  • UIDAI L1 whitelisted, works across Aadhaar and AEPS rails
  • USB plug-and-play on most RD services, no separate driver hunt
  • Optical sensor built for high-volume CSC and retail counter use
  • Direct swap for MFS100 fleets bricked by the 2025 L0 phase-out
Compact

Mantra MARC10 / MARC11

A slimmer capacitive L1 reader for teller desks and field agents, where the MFS110’s footprint is one size too many. Field teams doing door-to-door AEPS or onboarding runs prefer it because it survives dust and rough handling better than a desk-bound optical unit.

Current India models: MARC10 / MARC11 · L1 certified*
  • Capacitive sensor, more reliable than optical on dry or worn fingerprints
  • Lighter build for field agents and door-to-door AEPS carts
  • UIDAI L1 certified, same Aadhaar eligibility as the MFS110
  • Runs on the same RD service ecosystem, no retraining for staff
Iris

Mantra MIS100 V2 / MATISX

Dual-iris capture for branches that need a fallback when fingerprints fail: manual labour, elderly customers, worn prints. Branches that skip an iris fallback altogether tend to lose these customers to a queue redirect or a slower, less auditable paper process.

Current India models: MIS100 V2 · MATISX*
  • MATISX captures both eyes in one pass, faster than single-iris MIS100 V2
  • Covers the failed-fingerprint cases a fingerprint-only counter has to turn away
  • STQC and UIDAI certified for the Aadhaar iris pathway
  • Common at BFSI branches with heavy elderly or labour-heavy footfall
Software

MXFace SDK & Megh PI

The software layer for branches moving past device-only capture: a face-match SDK for contactless verification, and cloud workforce attendance. Neither replaces a fingerprint or iris device for Aadhaar authentication, they sit alongside the hardware for use cases the UIDAI biometric rails do not cover.

Current India models: MXFace SDK · Megh PI*
  • MXFace SDK claims 99.8% face-match accuracy across 50M+ enrolled records
  • Megh PI runs cloud attendance and workforce ID checks
  • Pairs with the MFS or MARC hardware already on the counter
  • A face fallback option without a new hardware purchase
*Disclaimer: Model numbers shown are illustrative examples of the current Mantra India line-up. Mantra refreshes the line-up periodically and stock varies by branch. Please contact Sirius Star for latest availability and price.

Mantra Biometric Identity Devices vs Startek, Precision, SecuGen

All three are honest choices for different jobs, and none of them is a bad pick for the right counter. Most Indian buyers land on Mantra itself for service depth, spare parts availability and ecosystem fit with the RD service software they already run.

BrandWhere it winsBest fit
Startek (Access Computech)A close price match on basic L1 fingerprint scanners and wide familiarity across CSC networks. When your counter only ever does single-finger AEPS capture and price is the whole decision.
Precision BiometricA slightly lower unit cost on entry L1 devices in some state government tenders. When you are buying in bulk for a tender that specifies Precision by name.
SecuGenA more established global brand with a longer support footprint outside Aadhaar-specific deployments. When the device needs to work outside India’s Aadhaar/AEPS ecosystem, on a non-UIDAI enterprise access project.

How a Sirius Star Mantra procurement runs

1

Tell us your counter

AEPS, eKYC onboarding, branch access or field capture. Fingerprint, iris fallback, or both. Tell us the daily transaction volume too, it changes whether one MFS110 per counter is enough or you need a backup unit.

2

We confirm the L1 fit

Every device we quote is UIDAI L1 whitelisted, so you are never sold a model already on its way out of the ecosystem. We check this against the live UIDAI whitelist at quote time, not a catalogue that could be a year out of date.

3

We cost the RD service

The annual RD service subscription is a named line on the quote, not a bill that lands after the hardware. You see the renewal cost and date up front, so budgeting for year two is not a surprise.

4

We deliver and register

Genuine units, device registration support, and a renewal reminder before the RD service lapses. Quoted in 24 working hours. We also keep your registered device IDs on file, so a lost invoice does not turn into a week of chasing paperwork.

Our AEPS counter went dark on a Monday morning, mid-queue, with no warning. We lost half a day of AEPS commissions before anyone noticed the counter was down. The RD service had lapsed on renewal and nobody had flagged it. Sirius Star got us back live in a day and set a reminder so it never happens again.

Mantra Biometric Identity Devices India FAQ

Common questions about this brand for Indian buyers. Hover any underlined term for a plain-English definition.

Which Mantra biometric device should I buy for AEPS or eKYC in 2026?

For most CSC and branch counters, the MFS110 is the default UIDAI L1 fingerprint scanner. If your agents work in the field or at cramped teller desks, the slimmer MARC11 does the same job in a smaller footprint. Add the MIS100 V2 or MATISX iris scanner only where fingerprint capture regularly fails, manual labour sites, elderly customers, or worn prints.

What happened to the Mantra MFS100? Can I still use it?

No. UIDAI phased L0 devices like the MFS100 out of the Aadhaar ecosystem by mid-2025. Any fleet still running MFS100 units needs to move to an L1 device, the MFS110 or MARC11, to keep doing Aadhaar or AEPS capture. We handle the fleet swap and RD service migration together.

Why did our device suddenly stop working with Aadhaar?

The most common cause is a lapsed RD service subscription. Mantra’s Registered Device service runs on an annual renewal, and it does not warn you before it expires. When it lapses, Aadhaar and AEPS capture stops overnight. We track renewal dates for our clients and flag them before they lapse.

We keep getting RD errors like -211 or 152. What’s wrong?

These are recurring RD service and driver errors that affect CSC and AEPS operators fleet-wide, not just your unit. They usually clear with a driver or RD service reinstall, but repeated errors point to an ageing device or a certificate mismatch. We troubleshoot this as part of our support contract instead of leaving you on hold with a call centre.

Is Mantra an Indian company?

Yes. Mantra Softech is headquartered in Ahmedabad, founded in 2006, and is India’s largest biometric device manufacturer by volume. It exports to 50-60+ countries and its devices have processed over 1.5 billion biometric transactions.

Do you support MATISX iris scanners as well as fingerprint devices?

Yes. We supply and support the full active Mantra range, MFS110 and MARC11 fingerprint scanners, MIS100 V2 and MATISX iris scanners, MFSTAB biometric tablets, and the MXFace SDK and Megh PI software.

Not sure if your fleet is still UIDAI L1 compliant?

Send us your device list and RD service renewal dates. We will tell you what needs replacing before Aadhaar capture stops.
