Optoma laser and DLP projectors. For Indian business buyers.

Stop guessing which Optoma range your room actually needs.

The Short Version

The right Optoma projector for your room, quoted in 24 working hours.

A Pune engineering college was running six lecture halls on ten-year-old lamp projectors, swapping bulbs every semester and losing a class period each time one died mid-lecture. We moved four halls to Optoma’s DuraCore laser range over one weekend, and the maintenance calls stopped. Story below.

Optoma at a glance

Optoma is a Taiwanese DLP and laser projector brand, in India well before most of its rivals set up local entities, selling laser ProAV projectors and Creative Touch interactive flat panels alongside its long-running DLP lamp range. It fits Indian boardrooms, training rooms, classrooms and auditoriums that need a projector running several hours a day without a lamp-change routine eating into the AV budget every year. Entry laser units for a mid-size boardroom start around Rs 45,000*, running up toward Rs 3.5 lakh* for large-venue ZU and ZK laser projectors, before GST and installation. Where Optoma does not fit is a colour-critical studio or screening room where a single rainbow-effect frame matters more than lamp life. Epson’s 3LCD engine is the better call there, and we will say so on the first call.

OEM and founding
Optoma Corporation, Taiwan, founded in 2002 as the brand-sales arm of Coretronic Corporation (established 1992). Its India entity, Optoma Technology (I) Pvt. Ltd., is headquartered in New Delhi.
What it is
DLP and laser projectors, plus Creative Touch interactive flat panels, for classrooms, boardrooms, training rooms and auditoriums.
India track record
Own India entity, GeM-listed, distributed nationally through Supertron into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, not just metro dealer counters.
Scale proof
One of the world’s largest DLP projector brands by volume, reported top-3 in the Indian projector market by trade press coverage.
Integration and compatibility
DuraCore laser units run on Optoma Management Suite for centralized fleet monitoring. Creative Touch IFPs ship Google EDLA-certified Gen 3 Android, so they sit on the same MDM policies as your Android device fleet.
Sirius Star’s role
We are an authorized reseller. We size the room, shortlist the series, install the unit and put it on an AMC. We do not manufacture or rebadge anything Optoma sells.
Best fit
Auditoriums, lecture halls, boardrooms and training rooms that run a projector for four or more hours a day and want to stop budgeting for surprise lamp changes.

The 4 products Sirius Star supplies

We do not carry every range Optoma sells globally. These four cover almost every Indian business room we get asked about.

Auditoriums and large halls

ZU Series

A WUXGA DuraCore laser engine built for auditoriums, halls and lecture theatres where the last row is fifteen metres from the screen.

ZU606T*

  • DuraCore laser rated for 30,000 hours before the light source needs replacing, not the projector itself
  • IP6X dust-sealed optical engine, sized for the dust load coming off an Indian auditorium AC duct
  • Honest limitation: WUXGA is business resolution, not native 4K. If the room is projecting spreadsheets at reading distance, look at the ZK series instead
Boardrooms and hybrid meeting rooms

ZK Series

A true 4K UHD engine with 8.3 million on-screen pixels, for boardrooms and hybrid meeting rooms where someone is reviewing fine detail on screen.

ZK810T*, ZK1120*

  • 8.3 million on-screen pixels via 4-way pixel shift; Optoma’s own spec sheet is upfront that this is not a native 4K chip
  • Same 30,000-hour DuraCore laser engine as the ZU range, sized for a shorter boardroom throw
  • Honest limitation: single-chip DLP can show a faint rainbow fringe on high-contrast content for a small share of viewers. If your board has flagged this before, ask us for a live demo before you commit
Training rooms and classrooms

Creative Touch 3 & 5 Series

Interactive flat panels assembled in India, running Google EDLA-certified Gen 3 Android, for training rooms and classrooms that need a whiteboard, not a screen.

Creative Touch 5 Series*

  • Made in India, which helps on GeM tender eligibility and on delivery timelines
  • Google EDLA Gen 3 certification means it takes the same MDM and app policies as your Android device fleet
  • Honest limitation: this is a panel, not a projector. For anything bigger than a training room, a projected image still costs less per square foot
Budget boardrooms and training rooms

EH / W / X Lamp Value Series

Lamp-based projectors for boardrooms and training rooms that run two or three hours a day, where the laser premium does not pay back inside a normal refresh cycle.

EH338N*, W400LVeN*, X400LVeN*, X309STN*

  • Lower upfront price than any laser range Optoma sells
  • Honest limitation: lamps fade and need replacing, usually inside 18 to 24 months on daily use. Budget for that line item at purchase, not as a surprise later
  • Short-throw variant (X309STN) fits tight rooms where you cannot mount the projector six metres back

Optoma vs Epson vs BenQ

Optoma is not the only serious projector brand for an Indian business room, and we will not pretend otherwise. Optoma’s after-sales support has also drawn recurring complaints on user forums for DLP mainboard and dead-pixel issues, with inconsistent response when buyers deal direct with global support. We close that gap ourselves: every unit we sell carries a Sirius Star AMC with a defined on-site response window. ViewSonic and Panasonic also compete in this band in India, mostly on price and dealer network size rather than laser innovation. We do not carry either ourselves, but we will not talk you out of considering them for a straightforward, low-hours boardroom buy.

How a Sirius Star Optoma procurement runs

1. Room and light survey

Throw distance, ambient light, screen or wall size, seating count. Fifteen minutes on a call or a site visit if the room is unusual.

2. Series shortlist

Matched to your room and daily run-hours, not a database dump of every SKU Optoma sells.

3. Demo or spec walkthrough

For boardroom and auditorium buys, we can arrange a live demo before the PO goes out, so nobody signs off on a spec sheet alone.

4. PO, install and AMC

Purchase order, installation and AMC scheduling in one motion, quote in 24 working hours.

How a Pune college replaced four lecture halls in a weekend

Six halls, ten-year-old lamp projectors, a bulb budget that kept growing every semester. Two halls had already lost a class period each to a dead lamp mid-lecture that year. The facilities head did not want another lamp projector, he wanted to stop thinking about projectors. We sized ZU-series DuraCore laser units against the room dimensions and daily run-hours, installed four halls over a weekend so classes were not disrupted, and put the fleet on one AMC with one renewal date. We walked all four halls with a lux meter before quoting anything, because a spec sheet does not know what the afternoon sun does to that west-facing wall in March. Full write-up below.

Optoma India FAQ

Are Optoma projectors reliable?

Mostly, yes, with one honest caveat. AVS Forum and Audioholics threads carry recurring complaints about DLP dead-pixel and mainboard failures on some units, and inconsistent warranty response when buyers deal direct with Optoma’s global support. We close that gap ourselves: every unit we sell carries a Sirius Star AMC with a defined response window, so you are not waiting on a global support queue.

Why does the picture look dimmer or less accurate than the spec sheet promises?

Single-chip DLP, which is what Optoma uses across most of its range, can show a faint rainbow fringe on high-contrast content, and real-world brightness and color usually land below the rated numbers once ambient light is factored in. Epson’s 3LCD engine avoids the rainbow effect and typically holds color better out of the box. If color accuracy is the priority for your room, we will tell you that on the first call, even if it means recommending a different brand.

Is the 4K UHD on the ZK series a real 4K panel?

No, and Optoma does not claim otherwise in its own spec sheet. The ZK series uses a 4-way pixel shift to put 8.3 million pixels on screen from a smaller native chip. It reads sharp at normal boardroom viewing distance. For pixel-level design review, that is a different and more expensive category of projector.

What is the warranty in India?

Two years on lamp-based models, three years carry-in on laser models. That is shorter than BenQ’s standard three-year cover across most of its range, and channel pricing between Optoma’s authorized dealers and open online marketplaces can also swing more than it should. Buy through an authorized reseller and check the serial number matches an India-market unit before you pay. We close that gap with an AMC that extends coverage and adds a defined on-site response time, which matters more than the printed warranty term once a hall is mid-semester.

Should I buy laser or lamp?

If the room runs more than three or four hours a day, laser usually pays back inside two to three years in avoided lamp changes and lost class time. If it is a boardroom used for two hours a day, the lamp-based EH, W and X series is the sane budget call.

Do you service Optoma AMCs outside Mumbai?

Yes. Supertron’s national distribution reaches Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and our AMC network follows the same footprint. Tell us the site pin code before you order and we will confirm the response window.
