Which TP-Link range actually fits an SMB office, Omada or Archer?
Omada is the right choice once you have more than one access point or need a managed switch with PoE for cameras and VoIP phones. Archer routers suit a single small office or branch that just needs one router and a site-to-site VPN back to head office. If you already own two or three unmanaged routers because Wi-Fi kept dropping in one corner, that is usually the sign to move to Omada, not buy a fourth router.
Is TP-Link’s US import scrutiny a reason to avoid it in India?
The US Commerce Department drafted a proposal in late 2025 to ban TP-Link products over China-ownership concerns; that specific company-wide ban was shelved in early 2026 during a US-China trade truce. Separately, the US FCC banned import of new foreign-made consumer routers industry-wide from March 2026, and TP-Link is seeking the same conditional approval Netgear and other brands already hold. Both matters are US import and national-security questions. Neither affects TP-Link’s manufacturing, warranty or authorised distribution in India, and we have seen no change to stock or support from our Indian distributors through this period.
How long do TP-Link business switches and access points last before they are discontinued?
Some MSPs flag TP-Link’s business-grade Omada hardware for shorter firmware and support windows than a 5-7 year enterprise refresh cycle, often 2-3 years before a model is superseded. That is a fair concern for anyone planning a long single refresh. We size TP-Link deployments assuming a 3-4 year hardware life and budget accordingly, rather than promising a decade of support the range was not built for.
