Trend MicroVSESETEndpoint Security – India
You bought Trend Micro. Your laptops are still running ESET.
The Short Version

Trend Micro Cloud One and ESET protect two different layers, not one

Cloud One protects workloads and containers on AWS and Azure. ESET protects your laptop and desktop fleet. Most mid-market buyers in India need both.

The verdict in one line

Trend Micro Cloud One and ESET are not really rivals for the same purchase order. Cloud One locks down your cloud workloads, containers and storage buckets. ESET locks down the 200 laptops your sales and finance teams carry around. If someone is trying to sell you one as a replacement for the other, ask what happens to the layer it does not cover.

Which one for what

The clean decision guide for common Indian B2B scenarios. Pick the row that fits.

Securing office laptops and desktops

ESET. Cloud One does not touch endpoints at all.

Protecting AWS or Azure production workloads

Trend Micro Cloud One. ESET has no cloud workload module.

You are running containers on ECS or Kubernetes

Cloud One Container Security. Purpose-built for this.

Air-gapped network with no laptops leaving the building

ESET on-prem console. Cloud One assumes cloud or hybrid infra.

You have both a laptop fleet and cloud workloads

Trend Micro vs ESET in India FAQ

Common questions Indian buyers ask. Answers grounded in current sources.

Can Trend Micro Cloud One protect my office laptops?
No. Cloud One is built for cloud workloads, containers and storage. It does not run as endpoint antivirus on a laptop or desktop. For that, you need ESET or a similar endpoint product.
Can ESET protect my AWS workloads?
ESET PROTECT covers Linux servers and cloud virtual machines through its endpoint agent, but it does not offer the container scanning, cloud posture checks or storage bucket protection that Cloud One provides.
Do I need both products?
If you run cloud infrastructure and issue laptops to staff, yes. They protect different layers. Most Indian mid-market companies we work with run both under one Sirius Star PO.
What does ESET cost per seat in India?
Indicative pricing runs roughly Rs. 700 to Rs. 1,200 per seat per year at the Entry tier, rising to Rs. 2,500 or more per seat at the Complete tier. Final price depends on seat count and is confirmed at quote time.
What does Trend Micro Cloud One cost?
Workload Security runs about Rs. 1,200 per workload per month, Container Security about Rs. 1,900 per node per month, and File Storage Security about Rs. 80 per bucket per month. Pricing is confirmed at quote time.
Which one has better malware detection?
They are not tested against the same threat surface, since one protects endpoints and the other protects cloud workloads. Independent labs like AV-Comparatives test ESET’s endpoint detection; Cloud One is evaluated on cloud workload benchmarks instead.
