ASUS ExpertBook for the IT manager running a laptop fleet
You are judged on ticket volume and uptime, not brand logos. ASUS ExpertBook is cheap to buy. The real question is what happens the day one fails.
When ASUS still fits
Before you switch, check whether you are actually in the group that should stay put. We sell and service ASUS, so this list is honest.
09:10 on a Monday, and the ticket says a laptop will not boot. A 90-seat firm, half the fleet ASUS ExpertBook bought two years ago on a tight budget, the other half older Lenovos nobody had the money to replace. The ExpertBooks had been fine. Cheap, light, they did the work. The question was never the laptop. It was the six days the replacement part took to reach the branch.
ASUS fits the IT manager when the constraint is the number on the PO. The ExpertBook P-series starts near Rs 39,990, the commercial line grew 170 percent in India last year, and Redington carries national distribution. For a metro office where a dead unit means a swap from the shelf downstairs, that price is real money saved and the downside rarely shows up.
Where it gets amber is the service story. ASUS is the newcomer in commercial PCs, and the honest complaint in Indian buyer forums is not the hardware, it is the RMA, third-party service centres, CID disputes, slow diagnostics. On a fleet you manage yourself, that risk is a spare-unit policy and a tighter warranty read, not a dealbreaker. On a fleet spread across small towns with no local bench, it is the thing that becomes your ticket queue.
I want to be honest about a mistake, because the mistake is the lesson. I once specced ExpertBooks for a client with six branch offices and treated all six as one number. The metro offices never called. The Nashik branch called every month, because the courier round-trip for a repair was the whole problem, and no spreadsheet line had captured it. Scope the fleet by where it sits, not by the unit price. We sell and service ASUS, so read that knowing we make money either way.

The 3 alternatives, honestly compared
Every brand below is one Sirius Star supplies and services in India. We make money either way, which is exactly why we can be straight with you.
Lenovo ThinkPad
The fleet manager’s default for a reason
- Mature commercial RMA and depot network
- ThinkShield and manageability tooling
- Predictable long-life chassis and parts
The honest downside: Costs more per seat than ASUS, and the premium is real budget on a large PO.

The estate with Wolf Security and image control
- HP Wolf endpoint security built in
- Strong commercial imaging and driver packs
- Wide onsite service footprint
The honest downside: EliteBook pricing sits above ProBook and above ASUS, so tier your fleet carefully.

The other value pick a metro fleet weighs
- Commercial TravelMate line priced to compete
- Simple, serviceable chassis
- Available through the same distribution
The honest downside: Same newcomer-in-commercial caveat as ASUS, so check local service before you scale.

When switching from ASUS pays off, and when it does not
Moving to ASUS pays off when your fleet is metro and your constraint is the PO total. If a dead unit means a walk to the store cupboard, the ExpertBook’s lower price is a clean win and the RMA weakness never surfaces. You save real budget per seat and spend it where the tickets actually are.
It pays off for refresh cycles where the work is ordinary. Email, browser, line-of-business apps, video calls. The ExpertBook handles that all day, and paying ThinkPad money for it is a premium your finance head will question and you will struggle to defend.
It does not pay off when the fleet is scattered. The day a laptop fails in a town with no service bench, the courier round-trip becomes your ticket, and a cheaper unit that is unreachable for a week costs more than a dearer one that gets fixed onsite. For those sites, Lenovo or HP earn their premium in downtime avoided.
And it does not pay off if you have no spare-unit policy. ASUS without a spares buffer is a bet that nothing breaks at the wrong branch. Put two or three swap units per region in the plan, read the CID warranty terms before you sign, and the risk turns manageable. We would rather tell you that now than log the ticket later.
