What is the real difference between Nutanix and Infinidat?
Nutanix is hyperconverged infrastructure: it collapses compute, storage and virtualisation into one cluster and includes its own AHV hypervisor. Infinidat is a dedicated storage array that sits behind whatever compute and hypervisor you already run. They solve different layers of the estate.
Can Nutanix and Infinidat be used together?
Yes. A Nutanix cluster can present storage to workloads that need it, while an Infinidat array can also serve non-Nutanix compute over the same network. Some Indian estates run Nutanix for general virtual machines and a dedicated Infinidat array for a latency-sensitive database, sized separately.
Is Infinidat’s Lenovo ownership a concern for India support?
Lenovo completed its acquisition of Infinidat in April 2026, folding InfiniBox and InfiniGuard into Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group. For Indian buyers this generally strengthens the support and channel backing rather than weakening it, since the product now sits behind Lenovo’s balance sheet and local presence.
Does Nutanix remove the need for a separate storage array?
For most virtualised workloads, yes, because Nutanix’s distributed storage runs inside the same cluster as compute. Very large, latency-critical or petabyte-scale storage needs sometimes still justify a dedicated array like Infinidat alongside the cluster, which is a sizing call, not a default.
Which costs less in India, Nutanix or Infinidat?
Neither is sold as a fixed price. Nutanix is project-priced by node count and licence tier; Infinidat is priced by array type and usable capacity.
